Yogi’s Big Catch Challenge

A BIG Catch for a BIG Year

In 2025 Yogi Berra would have turned 100 years old. In celebration of that milestone, on September 21, 2025 our Museum invited the community to participate in Yogi’s Big Catch Challenge, an attempt to capture the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Largest Game of Catch on the ballfield at Yogi Berra Stadium. The date was significant, marking the day before Yogi’s first major league game in 1946, as well as the day before the 10-year anniversary of his passing in 2015.

2,358 players showed up that Sunday to play catch simultaneously for five minutes. The result: a new world record.

Come see the exhibition dedicated to that amazing day. Photos, video and artifacts document the preparation and execution of the mass record attempt – a fitting tribute to Yogi’s famous commitment to community, teamwork and fun.
