Yogi Berra Museum On The Intrepid!

On Sunday, February 18 and Monday, February 19, the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center served as leading participant in Kids Week at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum—an indoor, family-friendly festival on the ship’s main hangar deck that offered a variety of exciting hands-on activities exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) through the lens of sports. Throughout the two days the Yogi Berra Museum’s education staff provided ongoing baseball-related activities, workshops and a special stage presentation – “Fastball Physics” – using radar technology to demonstrate the science behind pitching. Other highlights from the Yogi Berra station included Baseball Stats 101, a workshop on probability and batting averages using baseball cards as learning tools; an observational memory game based on the famous play from the 1955 World Series when Jackie Robinson stole home on Yogi; and a fun catching game to test reaction times.
